It’s gentle on the surface and uses no chemicals, so period joinery can be restored rather than replaced, and it’s ready to paint straight away. Where needed, we also use controlled burning methods.

Yes. Speedheater infrared is ideal for lead paint, and it is what Bellefair uses to strip it. Older paintwork in period homes often contains lead paint, which needs care to strip. Speedheater works without an open flame or excessive heat, reducing the risk of lead fumes and airborne dust, so it can be used inside the home as well as outside.

Yes. We repair timber windows, doors and sills with the Repair Care resin system. Unlike conventional rigid fillers, it remains flexible as the timber naturally expands and contracts with changes in temperature and moisture.

Repair Care is a resin repair system for rotten or damaged timber, and Bellefair uses it on exterior woodwork across central London instead of standard hard fillers. It is more flexible and designed to move with the timber as it expands and contracts through seasonal changes, so it is better suited to older timber. Rotten timber is cut out, the repair area is primed with Repair Care DRY FIX UNI, rebuilt with Repair Care DRY FLEX and sanded smooth once cured. Our team is trained and certified in the Repair Care system, and Bellefair is a Repair Care Trained Contractor.

Bellefair finishes exterior woodwork on central London homes in the Sikkens exterior woodwork system, or in traditional oil-based paint. Sikkens is breathable and better suited to older external timber than a standard rigid paint system. After any repairs, the timber is primed and undercoated in Sikkens, then finished in Sikkens satin.

On stucco, render and masonry fronts in Chelsea, Kensington and across central London, Bellefair removes loose paint and repairs the surface before any paint goes on. The surface is filled and made good, repaired areas are treated with a stabiliser, and repaired or bare areas are primed. The walls are then finished in two coats of Dulux Weathershield masonry paint.

Bellefair repaints iron railings and metalwork, such as downpipes, by preparing the metal properly before any paint goes on. Loose, flaking paint and surface rust are ground and sanded off, the metal is filled, sanded and cleaned down, and bare or rusted areas are primed with anti-rust primer. Railings are then finished in two coats of Hammerite anti-rust metal paint.

All glazing and detailing are masked to prevent scratches, with straight edges maintained for a crisp finish.
